Our annual Day of Prayer and Fasting was held on Ash Wednesday, March 1, 2017. The day started with Morning Prayer which was led by Deacon Desmond Gordon and closed in the afternoon with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and imposition of ashes on our forehead.
Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of blessing ashes made from palm branches blessed on the previous year’s Palm Sunday, and placing them on the for heads of parishioners to the accompaniment of the words “Repent, and believe in the Gospel” or “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return”
